State Supreme Court Puts on Hold Trial of Man Charged for Facebook Comment

The state Supreme Court yesterday decided to put on hold the trial of Nheru Littleton, a Detroit man who was arrested last year and charged with making "terroristic threats" after posting an angry comment about police on his Facebook page.

Dan Korobkin, Deputy Legal Director for the ACLU of Michigan, issued the following statement about the court's decision:

Pushing back against chilling efforts to criminalize free speech on social media, the ACLU of Michigan will appear at a court hearing tomorrow in defense of a Detroit man charged with directing “terroristic threats” at police officers after he vented about killing cops in a Facebook post last year.
