Kathryn Haroney joined ACLU of Michigan's Legal Department as a paralegal in July 2021. Kathryn comes to the ACLU of Michigan from Legal Services of South Central Michigan, where she assisted Washtenaw County residents seeking affordable housing, public benefits, immigration relief, criminal record expungement, and safety from domestic abuse. Ever mindful that rights and liberties belong to all and not just those with power and privilege, Kathryn's background in direct legal services inspires her to confront systemic barriers to empower individuals and communities most affected by inequities of justice. Kathryn previously interned with Michigan Immigrant Rights Center. She received a B.A. in Spanish and Political Science from Grand Valley State University. While not at work, Kathryn enjoys reading, running, and pursuing the very elusive recipe for perfect vegan cheesecake.
