Melissa joined the ACLU of Michigan in September 2020 as the Donor Relations Officer for Impact Giving. In this role, Melissa works to connect donors and supporters to the mission of the ACLU, as well as managing the ACLU of Michigan's Impact Society.
Prior to joining the ACLU, Melissa worked in fundraising for the University of Michigan in Leadership Annual Giving for the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, as well as university-wide Student Philanthropy. In her first year out of college, she also spent some time in Detroit as a fourth-grade teacher. Although she has always been an advocate by nature, this experience fueled her passion for equity and inclusion.
Melissa earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan, where she majored in Political Science and International Studies and will receive her Master of Business Administration in 2021 from the Michigan State University Broad College of Business.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys reading, fitness, and cooking. She is also willing to challenge anyone to out-quote her with a line from her favorite show - The Office.
