A survivor of domestic violence who was leaving her husband decided to seek an abortion. Her ex sued for divorce, and as part of the case sought a court order forcing her to complete the pregnancy.
In January 2013 the ACLU of Michigan represented the woman in opposing the husband’s motion.
The court agreed with the ACLU’s argument that the woman’s former partner had no right to control her body or prevent her from terminating the pregnancy.
