The Michigan House of Representatives and Senate each introduced legislation to amend Michigan’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA) to explicitly name sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression as being protected from discrimination under the law.
A civil rights coalition including the ACLU, Legal Defense Fund (LDF), and Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP), has filed a motion with the U.S. District Court asking that it order the City of Detroit not to resume water shutoffs when its current moratorium expires on December 31.
